Az Görme Araştırma ve Habilitasyon Derneği

"Transcending subjectivity in CVI diagnostic processes, this network is Europe’s most broad-based CVI collaborative initiative, aiming to provide a new future for children through the synergistic power of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, and clinical data."

As AGAHDER (Low Vision Research and Habilitation Association), we aim to transition diagnostic and habilitation processes in the field of Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) from subjective observations toward an objective, neuroscientific framework.

To operationalize this vision, we are currently preparing a comprehensive Action proposal for the COST OC-2026-1 open call, with a collection date of October 28, 2026.

We seek to expand our ongoing consortium efforts, currently conducted with researchers from seven different countries, and invite esteemed scientists from Turkey and across Europe to become part of this multidisciplinary network.

Who Can Join Our Network?

In accordance with COST regulations, our network is open to researchers affiliated with any legal entity, including universities, research centers, public institutions, SMEs, and NGOs. We particularly welcome contributions from experts specializing in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, computer vision, clinical medicine, and special education.

COST 2026 Regulations and Our Strategic Objectives

Our proposal is meticulously designed to align with the COST "Excellence and Inclusiveness Policy" by adhering to the following criteria:

  • ITC Status: Turkey is an Inclusiveness Target Country (ITC). We strictly meet the requirement that at least 50% of our core network originates from ITC countries (ensuring at least 4 ITC partners for our 7-country core).

  • Young Researcher and Innovator (YRI) Priority: To enhance scientific capacity, we mandate that at least 40% of our network members are under the age of 40 (Young Researchers and Innovators - YRI).

  • Focus on Networking: We wish to emphasize that COST is a "networking" tool that funds activities such as meetings, training schools, Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSM), and dissemination/publications, rather than the research itself.

How to Participate

Joining this international initiative as a Secondary Proposer is straightforward. No formal letter of intent is required; you simply need to maintain an up-to-date and complete e-COST profile (https://e-services.cost.eu) and confirm our digital invitation.

Critical Reminder: The Anonymity Rule

The COST evaluation process is conducted via a "double-blind" method. While we may issue this public call on our website, we strongly emphasize that no individual or institutional names must appear within the official application file (Technical Annex). Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate disqualification of the proposal.

We would be honored to have you join us in this pioneering project, which aims to shape the future of children with CVI through the synergy of neuroscience and technology.

COST Actions are not merely scientific networking tools; they serve as a critical 'pre-portal' and preparatory platform, facilitating researchers’ access to larger-scale and high-budget European funding schemes such as Horizon Europe.

The networks established within the framework of COST enable participants to connect with the right partners with minimum cost and time, thereby building an unwavering foundation for future multinational research consortia.

This strategic structure directly contributes to the strengthening of the European Research Area (ERA) while offering researchers the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and make their scientific excellence visible on a global scale. Consequently, a collaboration initiated through a COST Action becomes the most powerful reference and springboard for larger joint research projects under Horizon Europe.
